Theologos is a traditional mountain village with picturesque landscapes and unparalleled natural beauty, which maintains the tradition and culture of the past. Dense vegetation, streams with crystal clear waters and natural clean air make the ideal scene for nature lovers. The houses are built with traditional Macedonian architecture with stone roofs, giving the village a noble appearance.
The history of Theologos is lost in the mists of time as it dates back as a settlement before the establishment of the Parians (the first inhabitants of Thasos) on the island (before the 8th century BC). It took its name during Byzantine times. Theologos had the administrative control of Thassos until the mid-19th century, when the region had a high commercial interest, and during the Turkish occupation it was the seat of government of the island between 1813 and 1902.
Today the visitor of Theologos can enjoy among other things, the excellent food (the famous kid on the spit) and the traditional sweets, available in every shop in the village square.
